Which Annuity Should I Choose?

CD Annuity - The most comparable to CD's. These plans are designed for people who need a predictable rate of return for a specific period of time. As an example, this would be an  annuity that will pay you 5% guaranteed for the next five years.

Fixed Rate Annuity - These annuities will usually offer a fixed rate for a short period of time and a lower guaranteed rate (usually 3%.) These plans are for individuals who feel that future interest rates are likely to rise and do not want to lock themselves into a rate guarantee period.

Indexed Annuity - These annuity are some of the most popular today. They offer individuals the ability to receive higher returns than standard annuities while at the same time offering guarantees to principal and earnings. The returns are often linked to an equity index (such as the S&P 500, Russell 2000, NASDAQ 100...) These annuities are ideal for individuals who want to take advantage of stock or other equity returns without risking their principal.

Immediate Income Annuity - Provides a guaranteed1 stream of income for a period of time selected by the policy owner. These are most popular with retirees who want the predictability of a regular income. The income can be for life or a selected period.

Interest Bonus Annuity - These annuities offer a substantial first year bonus. Subsequent year rates are usually lower and can be fixed or vary yearly. These annuities are usually for people who have experienced major investment losses and are trying to recoup these losses through an interest bonus. Because of the bonus, These annuities tend to run for longer periods than others.
